MISSIONS

ANGEL QUILTERS

This dedicated group of ladies meet every Thursday morning from 9:00 - Noon in September through May to make "Angel Quilts." Angel Quilts are made for individuals or families that are in need. Quilts have been used by local families as well as Lydia House and Open Door Mission in Omaha, Bidwell-Riverside Mission in Des Moines, as well as sent to areas hit by floods and hurricanes throughout the Midwest.

SENIOR HIGH YOUTH WORK CAMP

The Senior High youth of the church regularly take Summer Work Camps to help others. In 1999, they went to Denver, Colorado and worked with "Street" kids through Stand Up for Kids, at Warren Village, Denver Rescue Mission, Food Bank of the Rockies, and toured "Urban Peak" a teen shelter.

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY

Our church houses the administrative offices as well as many of our people are involved in our local chapter of Habitat. Houses are built each year to assist families.

Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian organization dedicated to eliminating substandard housing and homelessness worldwide and to making adequate, affordable shelter a matter of conscience and action. Habitat is founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a simple, decent, affordable place to live in dignity and safety.

PRAYING FOR MISSIONARY FAMILIES

Over 100 missionary families and individuals are prayed for by members and families of our church. These missionaries are all over the world.

MINISTERIAL CRISIS FUND

We support the Shenandoah Ministerial Association's Crises fund for individuals and families who need some temporary financial help.

COMMUNITY FOOD PANTRY

Our church participates through gifts of food and paper products all the way to volunteering to work a day a month or per week. We hold "First Fruits" Sunday the first Sunday of each month to collect food pantry needs at the church as well.

WHEREVER THERE IS NEED

We support and participate in many of the ongoing, as well as seasonal, ministries around Shenandoah as well as Southwest Iowa. Members share their gifts from God in areas they feel called as they "Love one another. As I (Christ) have loved you, so you must love one another." (John 13:34)
